KIPP LA

Knowledge Is Power Program in Los Angeles

KIPP LA is a regional network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools. KIPP LA’s three schools, which serve elementary and middle school students in East and South Los Angeles, are part of the nationally-renowned Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP). Our schools share a single mission with all other KIPP schools: to prepare educationally underserved students for success in school and the world beyond.

KIPP LA schools feature a “no shortcuts, no excuses” philosophy and a school culture that embraces high expectations and a commitment to excellence. Our extended school day, week, and year enable our students to spend approximately 60 percent more time in the classroom than their peers in traditional public schools. The dedicated support of the KIPP LA “team and family” gives all students the opportunity to excel.

KIPP schools nationwide have been widely recognized for narrowing the achievement gap in public education and offering all children a high-quality public education. Nationally, more than 90 percent of KIPP middle school students have gone on to college-preparatory high schools, and more than 80 percent of KIPP alumni have gone on to college.
