Growth.
KIPP schools are widely acknowledged for narrowing the achievement gap in public education. KIPP LA schools are no exception and, like their KIPP cousins around the country, have produced outstanding results since opening five years ago. KIPP LA’s founding students, who were promoted to high school in 2007, offer the most complete picture of the KIPP LA “Four-Year Effect.” These students made remarkable gains across all subjects in their four years at KIPP, as measured by the SAT-10, a nationally administered test.

Comparative Performance.
KIPP LA students consistently outperform their peers across Los Angeles on the California Standards Tests for English, math, science, and history. Based on 2007 Academic Performance Index, which uses these tests to determine the performance of California schools, KIPP LA Prep and KAO respectively outperformed 91 percent and 88 percent of all middle schools in LA Unified School District, the nation’s second largest school district. Each school also bested the performance of all its neighboring public middle schools. The API scale ranges from 200 to 1000.
